2013 Specialized Carve Comp 29

Specialized's Carve Comp 29er is built upon an M4SL butted-aluminum frame, 100mm RockShox fork and big, 29-inch wheels. All these attributes combine to form a bike that handles superbly, corners with distinction, and creates a more confident position for technical riding. Plus, the wide-range SRAM 2x10 drivetrain and the all-weather braking power of Avid Elixir 1 disc brakes give you a steed that begs to be ridden no matter the terrain or the conditions. And, you'll love the quality Specialized rims and components which hold up great no matter how hard or long you go.

I had the option between the carve or stump jumper or this one. The fork angle is a little better on the Carve. The price and quality are good for the buck. I recommend this bike if you want to go to the next level.

    Comments:

I use this bike about 4-5 times a week. I have apsoulutly no compaints, this bike takes me right up the hills. through the technical stuff, and racing down those speed downhill sections! I went from my standard starting off beginner diamondback bike, and then after about 2 years i went to this bike. This bike is SO smooth with the rock shox recon front fork on it! The disc Brakes give INSANE stopping power! with this bike i can even beat out people that have 4,000 dollar full suspention bikes!!! this bike is good for anywhere where there are big rocks. steep hills, and great decents! The 29 inch tires are night and day from a 26 inch!!! I normally ride anywhere from 10 to 30 miles on any given day of the week! and i can do it with ease and comfort! i dont feel as sore the next day because all of the front fork and great tires take care of all of those 4-6 foot drop offs!!!! By far the best bike you can get for the money! you get AMAZING components for the money! If you are considering or even thinking about racing, this is the bike for you!

From a 2009 Hardrock to this is night and day. With the 2X10 gear system it takes me right up those steep grades to handling the down grades in the hills is a breeze. In the curves going downhill it handles great with the stock tires and the air adjustable front shocks as well. It is rather light weight and built tough. It rides smooth and fast on the flat land too. You can't go wrong with this winner of a bicycle.

      Comments:

Great for traversing roots and other small obstacles. Not as nimble as a 26 but after 10 or so rides I have adjusted. Love the hydraulic brakes. Replace the grips with symmetrical ones, the stock ones rotate and dont fit correctly.

        Comments:

Did a lot of soul searching (and researching) when considering whether to get a 29er to start up mountain biking again after 12 years. I'm glad I got it, and especially this one. I don't have a single complaint - and by the way, it climbs hills and takes tight turns no problem so don't let die-hard 26er riders mislead you. I decided not to list the 30+ lb weight of the bike as a con because it is naturally going to be a little heavier with those 29 inch wheels. I'm in this for the excercise, not to win extreme races, so the 10 less pounds I could get for another grand or two is not worth it (I'm 200 lbs carrying a camelbak full of water - let's get real about the bike weight issue). Anyway, I highly recommend this bike. Enjoy.

This was an upgrade from my starter bike. Gear shifting is smooth and can't beat the 29ers. Adjustable frt shock is nice. Keep maintenance up and cleaned after shredding and bike will serve u well

This bike handles the trails like an absolute champ. No need to use the brakes when it gets technical, just let the 29ers do what they do.
