I purchased my first Crosstrail Sport over a year ago at age 50 (Xlarge frame for 6'3" over 200 lb). Its been a great way to get some quality exercise without the pounding of running. I purchased a second Crosstrail Sport less than 6 months ago (large frame only slightly smaller) so either of my sons could ride with me or get a friend to join. A friend of mine since elementary school was in Austin recently from California and I was able to hit the town lake trail with him from South Austin and back about 10 miles total. The bikes are sturdy and reliable but its strange someone else mentioned the sore palms. I purchased a set of cushioned riding gloves for this very reason and it helped a lot getting the pressure off the base of the thumbs in the palm area.

I use my bike primarily for commuting back roads to work - hopping curbs, over railroad tracks, potholes, etc (hence why I didn't get a typical hybrid). But I also dig taking it for long rides on the weekends. Great for both jobs. If you need something that can accommodate a WIDE variety of uses, I can't think of a better buy.

I recently just got back into cycling, I looked at the lower model and didn't like the features, but the higher model was over kill for a basic beginner. This bike fits perfectly if you are any one like me who wants the basic capability to hit the more scenic trails and/or just head to work. Its got great acceleration and superb handling for a mid-range bike. The up-right frame is comfortable, but it puts a lot of pressure on your palms.

I have owned a few bikes, the last one being a comfort style bike. A more upright riding position. I then started commuting to work and it just didn't feel that good. So I looked around and found the Crosstrail Sport. This a light, nimble, and fast bike. Shifting is very smooth. The seat is very comfortable. My only complaint is the handlebar grips. Wish they were a tad softer. Great bike.
